Puzzle & Thinking Games · 24
Daily puzzles create social comparison without direct competition: everyone receives the same problem, then discovers that apparently everyone solved it differently. The category's past supplies the companion fact. Physics puzzles hide their rules in motion: gravity, friction and momentum become the clue sheet even when the game never writes them down. A hint used one second too late is not help; it is an accusation.

Tiny history break
Minesweeper was bundled with Windows 3.1 in 1992 and became familiar to millions of PC users. Its numbered squares turn probability and deduction into a game where one confident click can still end very badly. For the next piece of trivia: The modern jigsaw puzzle grew from 'dissected maps' made in the eighteenth century. Mapmakers mounted geography lessons on wood and cut them into pieces for students to reassemble.
