Physics puzzles hide their rules in motion: gravity, friction and momentum become the clue sheet even when the game never writes them down. The player-facing version of the idea is simple: Undo buttons radically change puzzle design because they let players experiment with hypotheses instead of treating every uncertain move as a permanent risk. Puzzle players call it experimentation when the first four plans fail in completely different ways.

Something to tell a friend
The modern jigsaw puzzle grew from 'dissected maps' made in the eighteenth century. Mapmakers mounted geography lessons on wood and cut them into pieces for students to reassemble. One more for the mental shelf: Sudoku became a global craze under a Japanese name, but number-placement puzzles with similar rules appeared earlier in American puzzle magazines. The name roughly means 'single numbers'.
