Tiny history break

Michelin introduced the radial tire in 1946. Its internal cords run differently from older bias-ply tires, helping improve tread life and road behavior enough that radial construction eventually became the everyday standard. The next bit is equally fun: One of the first mass-market car radios was sold under the Motorola name in 1930. The brand name itself blended 'motor' with the fashionable '-ola' ending used by audio products of the era.
