Upgrade trees make future planning visible, letting players trade immediate strength for access to stronger options later. The design side has its own twist. Economy and army size are naturally in tension: every resource spent on future production is a resource not currently standing between the base and disaster. The map has no sympathy for a beautiful plan placed three tiles too far left.

Before the next game
The word 'gambit' comes from an old Italian wrestling idea of tripping someone. In chess it became a sacrifice offered early for some other advantage—usually time, space or initiative. The next fact has its own story. Tower defense reverses a common action-game idea: instead of moving the hero through enemies, the player mostly shapes the enemies’ journey by placing defenses along a route.
