Skill & Precision Games · 90
Players build 'chunks' of movement with practice, combining several conscious actions into one learned sequence that feels almost automatic. The category's past supplies the companion fact. One-button games are a design stress test: when the input vocabulary is tiny, timing and level design have to provide almost all the depth. The cruelest leaderboard position is second because it comes with exact instructions for what still hurts.

Tiny fact jackpot
Billiard 'chalk' is not ordinary classroom chalk. The cube rubbed on a cue tip is an abrasive compound designed to increase friction so the tip can grip the cue ball instead of sliding off it. Meanwhile, this bit of history is hard to resist: Topspin and backspin in billiards can change where the cue ball travels after impact. A tiny difference in where the cue tip hits the ball can turn the same-looking shot into completely different position play.
