A fact with good replay value

Missile Command arrived in 1980 during the Cold War and gives the player no final victory,only increasingly difficult waves until the cities are lost. That bleak structure is unusually honest for a game about stopping incoming missiles. The next bit is equally fun: Track & Field became an arcade hit in 1983 by turning athletic events into furious button tapping. Players quickly discovered that technique applied not only to virtual athletes but also to protecting the cabinet from enthusiastic human hands.
