That connects nicely with a historical detail: Sniper mechanics exaggerate patience by rewarding a pause, a narrow field of view and a single deliberate shot instead of constant firing. A full magazine creates confidence; an empty click creates instant philosophy.

History got weird here
Quake, released in 1996, became a landmark for fully 3D first-person action and online multiplayer. It also helped popularize 'rocket jumping', where an explosion is used as movement rather than just an attack. The rabbit hole keeps going: GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64 became famous for split-screen multiplayer even though multiplayer was added relatively late in development. A last-minute experiment became one of the game’s defining features.
