Constraint puzzles become readable when information overlaps. One clue narrows possibilities; several clues crossing the same area can force a single answer. Put that beside this bit of history. Physics puzzles hide their rules in motion: gravity, friction and momentum become the clue sheet even when the game never writes them down. The phrase 'there must be a trick' is often correct and rarely comforting.

The rabbit hole
The classic river-crossing puzzle with a wolf, goat and cabbage is centuries old in spirit. Variants appear in medieval writings, proving that people have enjoyed logistical headaches for a very long time. One more page from the weird history book: Magic squares fascinated mathematicians for centuries. In a normal magic square, rows, columns and diagonals share the same total even though each number is used only once.
