RollerCoaster Tycoon arrived in 1999 and is famous for having much of its original code written by Chris Sawyer in assembly language. The design side has its own twist: Automation feels powerful because it converts repeated attention into infrastructure, freeing the player to solve a larger problem instead of clicking the same one forever.
