Worth knowing
The teddy bear was named after U.S. president Theodore Roosevelt after a 1902 hunting story inspired toy makers. Two different makers, one in the United States and one in Germany, helped popularize the plush bear. The next bit is equally fun: Velcro was inspired by burrs. Swiss engineer George de Mestral examined the plant hooks that clung to clothing and his dog's fur, then developed a reusable hook-and-loop fastener based on the same idea.
