The curious bit

Donkey Kong introduced Mario in 1981, although he was originally known simply as Jumpman. His job was described as carpenter before later games permanently associated him with plumbing. Here is another one to steal for a quiz night: Tempest used vector graphics, drawing bright geometric lines instead of filling the screen with ordinary pixels. Its glowing tunnel still looks striking because it never tried to imitate reality.
