Ghost replays turn improvement into evidence. Instead of guessing whether you are faster, you can watch your current attempt physically overtake the old one. That connects nicely with a historical detail. A leaderboard changes a solo challenge into asynchronous competition: another player can become your rival without ever being online at the same moment.
