Super Sprint put three steering wheels on one cabinet in 1986, proving that elbow room could be part of the multiplayer challenge. Another angle makes it more interesting. A 'ghost' lap is a wonderfully polite opponent: it shows exactly where you lost time without blocking the road or demanding a rematch. The fastest route is usually the one that feels suspiciously slow just before the apex.

A quick detour

The word 'chauffeur' comes from a French word meaning 'stoker' or 'heater'. Early steam-powered vehicles needed someone to tend the machinery, so the driver’s job title began with fire rather than steering. One more page from the weird history book: Early automobiles often had no steering wheel at all. Many used tillers, more like a small boat than a modern car, which makes today’s racing wheels feel almost luxurious.
